Katie Holland is a Chicago-based artist who works in painting, mixed media and craft. Katie hails from Florida, where she received formal training in the visual arts at the University of Central Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a painting specialization. In her chosen mediums, Katie has a strong interest in the visualization of female imagery, often compelling her to directly and indirectly compare the image of the mid 20th century woman with today’s media-created ideal. Often referring to vintage etiquette books and advertising for inspiration, she enjoys exploring this theme through multiple mediums and creating direct imagery which still lets the viewer explore the piece in depth visually. She lives and works in Avondale.
