I made these last night as baby gifts for my boyfriend's new niece and nephew. I made sure to find out the nursery colors so I could match it, I think this is a fun decoration. I embroidered the names on the fabric and added the fabric/button flower and then put it in a thrifted frame that I spraypainted. Easy peasy!

Some New Supplies
I went yesterday out to Oakton Community College to drop my paintings off for my show next month and took advantage of having the Zipcar for a few more hours and went to Jo-Anns to pick up some supplies for various projects. I think today I'm going to start a baby gift for my boyfriend's new niece and nephew (the fabric and embroidery thread is for that). I also picked up some knitting needles and yarn so I can finally learn how to knit!
New in the Shop!
Added this painting to the shop! I love the color combination, I want to use more purple in my work.

Commisions
I don't really talk about this, but I am available for commissions and wanted to get the word out there! Above is a commissioned painting I did on canvas which lives in a fun bar area of a Lincoln Park home. Testing, Testing
I got my Craftistas test kit! I can't wait to make it, I'll post a full blog post when I do! Tonight I finally finished submissions for 3 different art shows so now I have some time to work on other projects and this is at the top of the list.
Odds and Ends
Slowly getting back into a good routine of working in the studio. As some of you know I have a full time job so it's often a challenge for me to balance everything, but I try! Above is a photo of a sketch I'm working on for a piece for a beer themed art show at Cole's bar in Logan Square. Submissions are due soon, I hope I get it done in time!
I got this the other day to try out. I work with a decent amount of fabric so I have a feeling this will come in quite handy.
I hope everyone has a good weekend! I'll be at Riot Fest in Humboldt Park tomorrow and probably a little bit on Sunday. I'm looking forward to seeing some of my favorite bands.
September!
Holy crap it's September! And 11 days in to it too. Where does the time go? Well, I'm hoping to get back on track with painting and blogging now that life should be calming down soon. Big news! I got accepted in to the group show "The Personal is Political" at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, Il. Very excited to be a part of this juried all female show. Details soon!
Fun news! I'm very proud to be a September sponsor for Everyday is a Holiday, one of my favorite blogs! Jenny and Aaron are a great team and create some amazing art! I also really love their art journaling series on Youtube.

Catching Up
So August was a kinda weird month and I sorta fell off the bloggin' bandwagon recently. Last week I went to the ER (I'm ok now!) and it was a bit stressful. I've been painting here and there and need to work on some things for a few art shows I want to submit work too soon. There are a million other things going on AND I'm moving at the end of September. Trying to stay positive and not let anything get me down! Here's some recent photos of what I've been up to.

Button Necklace
I was so inspired by the 5 mason jars of buttons I now have that I made a new necklace last night. I took these small pearlescent buttons that were already clasped in pairs and used jump rings to make a little cluster of them. I really love how it turned out!
