9 to 5
I've been playing around with doing a series called "9 to 5" and what that phrase means to different people...for example, woman who make money by showing off their bodies and women who work behind a desk all day to make a living. Here's an office chair I stitched just to get my mind working on this idea....nerdy side note: it took pretty much the exact length of the debate to stitch
Ravenswood Art Walk Photo Blog
Busy, busy
Update time! I've been busy, busy....The Ravenswood Art Walk was this weekend and I sold a few pieces and got to explore a new neighborhood! Great weekend in Chicago! I'm working on getting some new items ready to put in my etsy shop and also working on some pieces on paper and some painting as well. Here is a piece in progress, thought it would be fun to show the progress of this piece from the previous gel medium transfer blog. The criss-cross pattern is strips of felt and I wanted to mimic a pattern from the top of a homemade pie.
Gel Medium Transfers with Xerox Copies
Gel medium transfers are pretty awesome. Here are some I did the other day
The two images here are on paper and are works still in progress
.
The images here were transfered to stretched canvas. I originally wanted the vacuum
to be larger but I think this works well since I am thinking about doing
a lot if layering of different imagery

First day of fall....Oh crap
I looooove Chicago, but today is the first day of fall, which means a cold bitter winter is on the way.
Also on my mind right now is I am realizing this blog is making me look like more of a crafty person as opposed to a fine artist. I love both craft and fine art. I think lately I have been feeling a lot of pressure when it comes to my paintings and whatnot so I end up making fun crafty items while I stare at a painting I've barely started and cannot figure out what to do next.
So here are some pictures of some of my fine art.... so I can give this blog more of a balance.
.
Thinking ahead..
P.S. I looove google reader! I never thought I would be such a blog nerd.
test print time
The rain finally stopped today (after 3 days!) and I got to check out the Renegade Craft fair, which was a few blocks from my house, and I was in heaven! 4 or 5 blocks of back to back vendors! It's so inspiring to see what other people make. On another note Here's a test print I did recently....not sure what to use this linocut for....maybe business cards?

Hot off the Presses
Just finished this piece! Wish I had better lighting but you get the idea....
Sublime Stitching Patterns used (they're the best!)
Old & New
I love the mix of patterns in this piece....but it never felt completed. The spray painted doily and sperm were on there before and I just embroidered on a nice little outline of the female reproductive system (pattern from Sublime stitching). I plan on finishing this piece and hanging in in the Ravenswood art walk at the Genius Style office, October 4th and 5th, 4001 N Ravenswood Ave, suite 503A. I'll probably be displaying it by hanging on a clothesline with clothespins....
ooohhhhh
I finally added a list of exhibitions I've been in, check out the lower portion of the sidebar (off to the right here)
I've been in some fun (and also stressful) shows over the years and can't wait to do more!
New on Etsy and a finished piece
Here is painting I recently added some hand stitching to. It's the horizontal lines with stitched drips marks coming down. I'm thinking this piece is finally done!

Lonely Liver Suspended in Liquid
Looks like it's going to be a date with PBR and my art supplies tonight but that's fine by me. I have a few projects going on and I need to get a lot done. First I will be showing my work during the Ravenswood ArtWalk October 4th and 5th. The Location is 4001 N Ravenswood Ave, suite 503A. Check out more information here . Next, I need to submit a proposal for a gallery show at UIC and finally, my friend Eric in Orlando asked me design a logo for this website that he records bands for. Hopefully I can make it to the Fest in Gainesville this year and hang out with him while he records some bands. Let's hope there are some good last minute plane ticket deals!
In the meantime check out some pieces that I finished earlier this year and finally got around to photographing
Cannonball Press
I forgot to mention this sooner but I got a great print from Cannonball Press a few weekends ago at a gallery show in Wicker Park that featured prints from all over Chicago and the U.S. and live t-shirt printing by Drive by Press. Pretty Rad
