Green Eye

My paintings are currently hanging at the Green Eye! For those who don't know, it is a bar at Western and Milwaukee under the blue line. Go check out my stuff and have a beer. I'm hoping the tags stayed up ok, I had to work with whatever foam tapeI could find at Dick Blick that would stick but not damage the walls. There are a few price lists behind the bar for those who feel like supporting my PBR/Jameson habit. I will post pictures as soon as I have them (I've been a bit behind on uploading to Flickr.)

Hello from Chicago

I'm waiting for some updates on my computer to finish so I figured I would ramble for a minute here in my tiny corner of the Internet. What has your dear friend Kate the Great been up to? I recently started taking Burlesque classes at Studio L'amour and it's so fun! I know what your thinking fellas, and sorry to inform you no clothes are being taken off at this stage of classes. This is the very basic class to learn the moves and it's quite a workout!

Last night I finally got to check out Spudnik Press and do some printing with my good friend Erik. I had some trouble printing with the soft cut lino I used so I'll go back to the better stuff and maybe do some woodcuts. I took some pictures of the studio space and will post soon! This place was amazing, they have everything.

Till next time!

100!!!

This is my 100th post! I would like to have a website one day but blogging in fun! Thanks to everyone who came out to Indie in the Windy City this past weekend. I'm working on my etsy shop, so will have tons of new items posted soon! In the meantime the shop is in vacation mode but I will let you know when you can check out the new goods.

Workin' It

Packing tape transfers are the bomb! I've done gel transfers but those take forever to dry, this is much quicker!

Paintings in progress, will add the transfers soon

Hello friends! The product open house was a blast! Yours truly ended up a bit tipsy but it was a fun way to end a weekend. Make sure to check out Cheesecake Handmade Beauty, Love, Lulu Mae, and Vavoom Pinups, these were just a few of the lovely ladies at the open house Sunday and I really love their goods!

Next is to get ready for Indie in the Windy city, hells yeah. And keep an eye on the flickr, I will be posting new items that will be for sale at the fair as I make them! I would love for you to add me as a contact!

Sunday Fun!

This is short notice but come check out this product open house featuring a wide variety of handmade goodies! I'll be there selling paintings and a few crafty items. 2053 W. Division in Wicker Park  from 5-9, there will be drinks and some food!

Banner

Here's the felt banner I made for craft shows. It's a bit long for my smaller table but will be perfect for the bigger table I have sitting in my basement storage

Time for a Quickie

busy+lack of wifi to steal at home = not much blogging

Throw in looking at new apartments, car trouble, various other activities and working 40 hours a week and that doesn't help either. It seems when I do have downtime I stare at the TV like a zombie or pass out reading a book. I'm not complaining though, I love being busy!! Tonight I'll be stretching little 8"x8" canvases, fun!

So just wanted to say hello.

Hello.

Chicago Crafty!!

This lovely site, Chicago Crafty has listed Heartless Arts in their directory of Chicago crafters! How fun! Check me out in the stationary section, and make sure check out the rest of the site!

Speaking of crafting, my latest Netflix is a PBS documentary called Craft in America which is 3 hours long, whew! I'm gonna craft and watch it since I can't sit still that long, gotta keep busy!

Also, I'll be applying for Indie in the Windy City, a cute handmade market in Uptown, I hope I get in!

Oi vey

I finally had my winter cold last week and the effects are still lingering...I finally have some energy to get back to a few projects so I'm working on stretching and gesso-ing (is that a word? I doubt it) three canvases right now. Other than that no big updates.... I'm still trying to find a venue around town to exhibit my work and have some leads thanks to the Chicago Artists Resource website. Gotta love the Internets! This is my last day of antibiotics so hopefully I won't feel jittery anymore and can get back to normal!

Recent and upcoming reads

While walking around my neighborhood today I finally went in to Fagin Books at 917 N. Ashland. I walk by to and from work but I was waiting for a Saturday to go so I could have more time to browse. The entire store is crammed with bookshelves from floor to ceiling and they have EVERYTHING. I concentrated on the art section and they had a wondering array of books and old catalogs from gallery and museum shows, including a lot from the Art Institute here in Chicago. What a great shop and the owners were very nice and had three adorable greyhounds there too!! I picked up Modern Artists on Art published in 1964 for $3. I can't wait to go back!

I recently picked up Handmade Nation at Quimbys  and I loved it! I like how the book was arranged by featuring crafters by region. It was very inspiring to hear  people talk about the DIY movement and not relying on corporations and chains to buy what we want and need.

Valentine's

While the cynic in me wants to be a bit annoyed that Valentine's day is upon us again, I'm happy I received a fun commission from my co-worker for a gift for his burlesque dancing girlfriend. I made a tassel holder!! I got the little box from Paper Source and painted it and lined the inside with felt. I hope she likes it! And yes that is a nipple on the lid.

I caved

So I finally decided to give flickr some money and upgrade to a pro account. Damn you Internet!
Anyways, I will be adding some more pictures of my work so check it out here!

It's Been Awhile

I haven't been doing much painting lately and it's frustrating....my attention span has been annoyingly short so in the meantime I craft! Check out the new bookmarks in the shop. More to come!
