Every time I move I think "I have too much stuff", and try to get rid of some things, which works to an extent, until I get to my art supplies and think, hmmm, I you never know when i'll need that pastel set that I haven't used since intro drawing class at UCF. I moved this past weekend.and have gotten a good amount of stuff unpacked, but have yet to tackle the art supplies. Time for an embroidery break! I'm very close to finishing a commission and will post a photo when I'm done!
Visits and Moving.
Sarah from Felt and Paper came to visit me recently and we had a great time! We went to the Renegade Craft fair over the weekend and also did the museums, played tourist, and hung out in the neighborhoods at night. Here are some funs things I saw while we were out and about in the city:
Button Time!
Pin Display
I have a ton of pins from years of punk shows and crafts shows and ones friends have sent me and they were sitting in a jar where I couldn't enjoy them. The solution was to take a frame I got at a thrift store, take out the crappy flower art and the glass and take some cork board (bought in a roll at the craft store) and glue it down on top of the mat, let dry, attach pins and voila! Right now they are arranged by color basically but since it's on cork I can re-arrange whenever!
Coming soon!!!
The lovely Sarah over at Felt and Paper is now taking custom button orders and I just placed mine! Can't wait to see my girl in the blue dress button will look! Based off my painting that I love so dearly I could never sell.
Around Town
Growing up CAD
I donated a painting to the Chicago Art Department Fundraiser, which is this Saturday! Tickets are available here, or head down the the Pilsen 2nd Friday art walk and check out a preview from 6-10! There are a lot of great galleries in the area and I look forward to taking a nice summer stroll through Pilsen tonight!

Goodie Box
All packed and ready to send my items to Etoile Boutique in Orlando. I'm starting off with some small framed art pieces, bookmarks, pin cushions and magnets to see how they sell.
Travels
Vegas baby, Vegas!!!
Heading to Vegas today, so excited!!! I packed a small sketchbook so I won't feel too guilty about my lack of artistic productivity lately. Maybe do some sketching on the plane or write down ideas after being immersed in such an environment for a few days. I'm also bringing My Love Affair with Modern Art to keep me entertained on the 4 hour plane ride from chi-town. Also hoping to check out the Bellagio's modern art exhibit up right now that was curated by the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.
XOXO have a great week everyone!

clever blog title
An update on the painting that is taking me longer than it should to finish.... After doing the text I decided the background needed more work so I'm painting some layers over that and will have to go back in and re-paint the words. I like how the fade is coming along though from left to right. I also started the background on another canvas tonight that will be part of a diptych that I am pretty excited about. These new works involve fairly plain backgrounds and pretty bold, isolated text, which is new for me but I am enjoying the challenge.

Pasties!!!
Every starlet needs to carry her pasties in style!
Here is a more finished photo of a pastie box I made for Chicago starlet Ginny Fizz. I could of sworn I had more of other recent ones made but I'm a bad blogger and forgot to take pictures before they went out the door.
Trying to raise money
Last week was tough as my pet guinea pig, Amy, passed away. She had a long, good life but it was still sad. Now I have a huge vet expense to pay off and am hoping to raise some money towards that through my etsy shop. Please take a look and remember, every little but helps right now! Please spread the word!
I'm also thinking about having a name your own price sale with some paintings....post the pieces, haggle a price with the buyer, only stipulation is you have to be in Chicago to come pick it up. If I do this hopefully it will be soon!

Impromptu
ooooohhhhh in progress
more painting prep
I love Sarah! Since I don't have photoshop right now or anything like that she helped me pick out this font and put together the type for my next painting. I might do this as a graphite paper transfer onto the canvas, I usually have trouble with those on canvas unless I put some sturdy behind it, otherwise it's too soft and doesn't transfer the graphite well. The painting is going to be about love in the modern age of technology.
go go go
Well hello there
It has been quite awhile hasn't it? Im not in the writing mood so will share some photos of what has been going on. There is my work at Green Eye, the new Modern Wing at the Art Institute, and various activities in Chicago. This last month or so has been amazing but these last few days have been difficult as I had to say goodbye at the airport to someone who means a lot to me.
XOXO
