Weekend

One of these days I'll post some new art related photos....I just need to time/energy/motivation. All I can think about is vacation. The texture on a Jasper Johns painting I saw this weekend gave me some ideas for a piece I've been stuck on, so I'm excited to work on that. Meanwhile, here is some of my weekend.

I'm an Aging Punker?


I am sad to report that I have only done some sketching recently and no painting. But I am happy to report that I will be immersed in 3 days of some of my favorite punk bands EVER. I will be at Riot Fest starting tonight (at the Metro) and going to shows tomorrow and Saturday as well (at the Congress).

Lazy weekend

I keep thinking, "I should be painting", but it's been a lazy weekend as far as productivity and that's alright with me. Tonight will be a good night to get some painting done though, I got more 3"x3" canvases and new FW Acrylic ink colors and can't wait to put them to good use!

Today I checked Design Harvest on Grand then happened upon a petting zoo! I feel bad for the animals there but can't help wanting to see them and pet them! Us city folk are so easily amused.






Studio Reorganization

Two roomies are moving out so I took the chance before the new guys moved in to completely take over the back room in our apartment (muhaha!). There's plenty of room elsewhere in the apartment for books so now I have a lot of shelving for my crap! Us artists tend to collect a lot of stuff, I don't understand people who live light. Here are some photos of where I work! Not pictured is my laptop streaming Law & Order on Netflix.

Last night I left this piece alone because I didn't think it was done but could not decide. Now I look at it today and it seems complete. Thoughts anyone?


New Handmade


I’m going to drop these lovelies I made off at Lenny & Me today after work. They’re moving my handmade stuff to the main location at 1459 N Milwaukee Ave, if they haven’t already. Make sure to stop in! They also have my pin cushions, bookmarks, and cards for sale. These look funny on my desk at work!

Pop-Up Art Loop

Chicago! Just found out I will be volunteering tomorrow for Pop-Up Art in the Loop! Come visit me tomorrow at 240 S. State between 11:30am and 5:30pm. It's right by the Jackson Blue and Red Line stops. More info here.

I'm organizing some images into notebooks for easy reference and watching Law & Order. I'm a dork.

Friday Night Art Dork

So this is what I worked on last night. Some people sketch then paint...but I was inspired by my painting to do some drawings. I'm going to add some more thread behind/around the heart but am pleased with this piece so far.



Look what I Found

I love old books. With the rise of digital media I feel like finds like this are extra special. I found it at the Bookman's Corner in Lakeview and bought it for the pattern/drawings on the front and back covers. Then I opened it up and saw it had been in a library's circulation in the 1940's. I guess it makes me a nerd but I love this stuff!
